Created in July 2014; the British Bee Orchid (Ophrys Apifera). Measuring just 300 x 250 x 30mm, this is the smallest of all the glass orchid collectiions; representational of its tiny flower compatriot. This delicate little flower is created from over 30 individual component pieces with the anterior ‘hairy’ petals produced using hundreds of pre-fired coloured frits.
Overall this bloom takes six firings prior to kiln forming in its mould. A real challenge in the making, but worth the concentration and effort; a real gem.
